Randy (Spook) Spivey Retires From DLCRA Athletics




Randy (Spook) Spivey of Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority recently retired after serving twenty-six years as a recreation professional. He has served as DLCRA Athletic Superintendent from July 1999 to present. Prior to this position Spivey served as Athletic Supervisor Dublin Parks and Recreation October 1992 – July 1999. Spivey was installed In Oct. as 2019 President of Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and will continue to serve after retirement. Spivey has been a member of Georgia Recreation and Park Association 1992 to present.

Spivey’s athletic Program responsibilities includes budgeting and supervision of a Consolidated County-City Recreation Authority serving a community of approximately 50,000 people, including soccer, football and baseball and assistance with special events. In addition, Spivey has been quite active in Emerald City Officials Association serving as Member of Emerald City Officials Association 1986-Present, Served as President of Emerald City for 4 terms, Georgia High School Association Official 1986-Present and a graduate of Dublin-Laurens Leadership.

Upon retirement, Randy is looking forward to spending more time with family including daughter, Kaitlin Spivey, student at College of Coastal Georgia and continuing to carry the torch as Recreation Professional, his son, Eason Spivey, now Youth Athletic Program Coordinator in Gainesville, Ga. and Laura Spivey, Athletic Coordinator in City of Cumming Recreation Dept. His wife, Dina will enjoy him being able to spend more time at home after those long nights at the ballfield for many years doing what he loved.   Randy is the son of Billy Spivey and the late Eunice Spivey of East Dublin. 

Spivey will surely be missed on the fields of DLCRA and we want everyone to join us in congratulating him on his retirement and saluting him for his many years of service to DLCRA. He will always be known as a dedicated father, sports enthusiast, and leader in field of Recreation in Dublin-Laurens County and in the State of Georgia.

Randy is presently putting his skills and strong work ethic as salesperson for Hobbs Sporting Goods in Dublin. We all wish him the best in his new chapter.
